Hello, my name is Janie , I have been interested in arts and craft since I was small child. I won my first competition at the age of 10 at my primary school and the prize was a set of watercolour paints, I think this is probably where my love for art all began.
Completely self taught, I changed my direction to "Pyrography" in my early 20s as a stay at home mom. It suited me as a hobby and I enjoyed the versatility of the tool. I was a member of the "Wood Turners guild West Midlands" where I would often exhibit work and do demonstrations home or away. I still enjoy pyrographing in my spare time.
More recently i've turned my hand to acrylic paint on canvas which is where I think I will be staying. I absolutely love how the paints blend and that I can make any shade of colour I want so easily to give realistic looks and bring my paintings to life.
I mainly paint monochromatic work, I always adored grey scale photography over colour so perhaps this is why I enjoy monochrome painting so much. (I do occasionally paint in full colour or partial colour if the mood should take me).
I also have a tendency to occasionally use local land marks which I am fond of in my work, I think it's my way of leaving a little bit of myself and my life in my paintings along with other echoes of myself.
I try to add as much detail in my paintings as possible as I believe the background of my work should be as equally pleasing as the foreground and much time is set aside to pay every attention to detail.
I hope you enjoy my paintings.
